Nkanu Youths in Enugu State have endorsed the Governorship Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the state, Dr Peter Mbah, as its sole candidate for the March 11 Governorship election.

The Nkanu Youths under its umbrella body, Nkanu Youths Organisation, made the endorsement during Nkanu Youths Town Hall meeting with Dr Peter Mbah held in Enugu on Sunday.

The President of the organisation, Comrade Maduabuchukwu Edeani, during the meeting moved the motion for endorsement of Mbah as the sole and preferred governorship candidate of the youths in the forthcoming governorship poll.

Comrade Edeani’s motion was seconded by Comrade Okechukwu Nwobodo, and unanimously supported by over 200 youths representing various youths associations, communities and professional groups within the Nkanu land and people of the state.

Comrade Edeani , who spoke briefly after the endorsement, stated that the youths of Nkanu land had resolved to mobilise massive votes from friends and relatives from other parts of the state for Mbah.

“Today, Nkanu Youths have resolved to be united in support of the candidacy of His Excellency, Dr Peter Mbah as well as work for his emergence by carrying out massive voters’ enlightenment based on his manifesto, integrity, and character.

“We are selling him to others based on his impeccable character, antecedent and track records; and what he is doing in terms of philanthropy and reducing the price of petroleum products through his Pinnacle Oil and Gas Limited,” he said.

The Convener of the town hall meeting, Comrade Ogechukwu Nnamene, said that the town hall meeting was an interaction between Nkanu youths and Mbah, their preferred candidate and how youths of Nkanu land would be of assistance to him.

“As a brother, we need to give him all the support to succeed and get the needed massive votes for a landslide victory as well as know what his administration holds in stock for us,” Nnamene said.

In a remark, Pastor Dan Anike, a PDP Chieftain, said that youths of Enugu State must stick with Mbah as “his manifesto is geared for tomorrow, targeting the future wellbeing of the state, which the youth are at the centre”.

“With his learning and international exposure, Mbah will bring great possibilities in terms of robotic science, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, augmented reality, mechatronics, e-commerce and Fintech that would give Enugu youths an edge over others,” Anike said.

A Patron of Nkanu Youths Organisation, Chief Patrick Oko, told the youths to brace up for rural mobilisation for Mbah and other PDP candidates in the general elections.

“The work is not over, in fact at this moment we need to intensify our campaign and mobilisation even at the door-to-door level for victory to be assured for our brother, Mbah and other candidates of the PDP,” Oko advised.

Chief Paul Nnajiofor, member representing Nkanu East State Constituency, said that Mbah movement was divinely ordained and advised all to support him as he had a clear-cut agenda to uplift all residents especially the youths in the state.

Responding, Mbah appreciated the youths for having a strong united organisation and for standing by him in his electioneering as well as highly believing his political mantra that says, “Tomorrow is Here”.

Mbah, represented by Chief Sydney Edeh, Chairman of Nkanu East Local Government Area, noted that Mbah’s campaign slogan, “Tomorrow is Here”, is targeting and talking about the youths and making their future bright.

He said: “Dr Peter Mbah will expand the IGR of the state and build a state economy from N4.4 billion to N30 billion, which means more productivity and jobs for the energetic and resourceful youths of the state.
